My guide on the most instagrammable places in Rome is finally here!
There’s no other place like Rome. No other city in the world is packed with so much history, art and culture like The Eternal City and I am lucky enough to call it my second home. Let me take you through the most stunning and instagrammable places in Rome one after another. And in addition, I’ll share with you some of my favorite restaurants and bars.
1. Fontana Di Trevi
Where else could your first steps lead you than to the famous Fontana di Trevi? This masterpiece that became really famous in the 50’s thanks to the iconic scene from Fellini‘s classic Dolce Vita. Don’t try to recreate it though! The fines are huge. However, if you want to take a shot at this fountain, bear in mind you have to come really early. The crowds are insane and you can barely move. I took these shots at 6 am.
2. Pantheon
Pantheon is a former Roman temple, now a church, and it’s the best preserved of Rome’s ancient monuments. It’s striking 2000 years old and you can get amazing shots of it from the piazza. And while you’re there, don’t forget to get some croissant and cappuccino for breakfast at Don Nino. I am still dreaming about those croissants with pistachio cream. (Update 2022: Don Nino has had some major success in the past few years and it moved to Via delle Muratte close to Fontana di Trevi. This new fancy location brought many changes. Bigger space, higher prices and not so attentive staff. At least the quality of the product hasn’t changed but I am not sure it’s worth the price tag.)
3. Castel Sant’Angelo
This cylindrical building is actually a mausoleum of the Roman Emperor Hadrian but today it’s a museum and you can get amazing shots of it early in the morning when the light is low or during sunset. The best spots are on the bridge leading to it or from the other side of the river. And the views from the castle are pretty amazing too.
4. Terrazza del Pincio
This famous viewpoint on The Pincian Hill overlooks Piazza del Popolo and it’s surrounded by the park Villa Borghese. The sunsets from here are breathtaking but it gets very crowded. This is to say, come early for a shot of this beautiful viewpoint.
5. Colosseum
The Colosseum, one of the seven world’s wonders, doesn’t really need much introduction. This oval amphitheater is pretty much the symbol of Rome and it is famous for its gladiatorial games that took place in here for five centuries. To get the perfect shot with the Colosseum, hike a little hill on the left hand side of the Colosseum, above the metro station, and climb on the wall.
6. Trastevere
Trastevere deserves a full post on its own and I might write it if you’d like to. This charming part of Rome on the west bank of the river Tiber is getting more and more popular and I can totally see why. Its colorful narrow streets, bohemian bars, artisan shops and its working-class roots are what makes this place so special and above all it will make you feel like you are in the real Rome away from all the touristy stuff.
What you need to do here is to get lost and if you want to have a great meal in Rome, eat in one of its traditional trattorias. I can recommend Il Duca in Trastevere and Trattoria da Enzo al 29. Head to Il Meccanismo in Piazza Trilussa for a delicious aperitivo. Young locals love this place and I also never miss the chance to go there when in Rome.
The shot bellow is from Vicolo del Piede.

Where to stay in Rome?
which is still close to the Colosseum and Forum Romanum and it’s full of bars, restaurants and cafes but i If you are looking for a luxurious experience, it can’t get better than Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria hotel. I had the chance to stay there in August 2021 and it was absolutely breathtaking and blissful. Other great options are Hotel Eden, Hotel de la Ville, Raphael, St. Regis, Hassler and many more.
I hope you guys enjoyed this guide and most importantly I hope I inspired you to travel to The Eternal City, if you haven’t been yet.
